Washington University in St. Louis is hiring a Manager Patient Accounts (Remote) for the Department of Medicine Business Office. You will manage account receivable and collection activities to maximize revenue, provide critical financial reporting and forecasting, and implement a service-oriented culture for the patient accounts function.
What You'll Do
- Develop and maintain systems for account management, data entry, collections, and general A/R operations.
- Develop income projections and long-range plans to achieve financial targets.
- Provide monthly income, cost center, and ad hoc reporting to the Business Manager.
- Maintain an environment and training opportunities that support staff growth and development.
- Oversee office staffing, ensuring appropriate staffing levels.
- Provide managerial guidance to assistant managers to meet monthly and annual goals.
- Maintain and update the master fee schedule.
- Prepare and monitor the patient accounts annual income and expense budget under the Business Manager's direction.
- Serve as a liaison to third-party payers, vendors, medical center personnel, patients, and families to resolve problems.
- Assist with the development of A/R charge and collection policies.
- Assist with contract negotiations with third-party payers.
- Assist supervisors in recruiting necessary personnel.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5 years of supervisory experience.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Background in accounting.
- Skills in analytical thinking, identifying trends, trend analysis, and trend reporting.
- Strong communication skills, including interpersonal, oral, and written communication.
- Proficiency in organizing, problem-solving, and self-motivation.
- Experience in patient account management.
- A detail-oriented approach.
- Experience in supervisory management.
Team & Environment
This position reports directly to the Business Manager.

- Salary range: $75,200.00 - $128,800.00 annually.
