VAT Group, a leader in high-performance vacuum valves and systems, is looking for a Machining Instructor Team Lead to plan, organize, and lead comprehensive training programs. Your role is critical for enhancing the technical skills of CNC machinists, managing a team of trainers, and developing tailored training initiatives that support continuous workforce development and operational goals.
What You'll Do
- Develop and implement a structured training program for Production direct labour covering CNC machining and cleaning.
- Identify skill gaps and align training initiatives with production goals and competency requirements.
- Design and maintain training documentation, including manuals, schedules, and competency matrices.
- Lead, coach, and manage a team of trainer(s) to deliver effective hands-on and theoretical training.
- Allocate trainer resources effectively to support training needs across multiple shifts or departments.
- Foster a culture of learning and continuous improvement within the trainer team.
- Conduct regular skill assessments and evaluations for machinists to identify development needs.
- Maintain detailed records of assessment results and track employee progress over time.
- Collaborate with supervisors and HR to plan individual development paths and upskilling initiatives.
- Work closely with production supervisors, quality, and engineering teams to align training with operational requirements.
- Support onboarding and orientation for new hires in the Production team.
- Track the effectiveness of training programs through measurable KPIs like productivity, quality, and scrap rate.
- Provide regular training reports and improvement recommendations to the Production Manager.
What We're Looking For
- Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.
- Proven experience in CNC machining with strong technical knowledge of CNC machines, tools, and processes.
- At least 5 years of working experience in the CNC manufacturing industry.
- At least 2 years in a supervisory, lead trainer, or similar leadership role.
- Experience designing and delivering training in a manufacturing or technical environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with all employee levels and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in documentation and reporting.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with skill assessment frameworks and training management systems.
- Certification as a technical trainer.
- Certification in specific machinery and technologies.
