Brigham and Women's Hospital is hiring a per diem Labor & Delivery Unit Coordinator to provide critical administrative support to our inpatient unit. You'll function as the essential liaison between patients, visitors, and clinicians, organizing priorities and managing confidential information to ensure smooth patient flow.
What You'll Do
- Perform clerical and administrative duties to support the general operation of the unit.
- Greet and interact with patients, families, visitors, and coworkers professionally in person and via communication tools.
- Receive, prioritize, organize, and manage information at the central nursing station and throughout the unit.
- Schedule consultations, tests, procedures, and patient transport to other departments.
- Enter accurate and timely information about admissions, discharges, and transfers into the electronic medical record.
- Contact ancillary service departments to obtain equipment, services, and supplies; track status and location.
- May assist the manager with payroll, staff scheduling, or supervision of unit secretaries.
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- 2-3 years of administrative support experience
- Prior Labor & Delivery experience
Nice to Have
- Associate's Degree in a related field of study
- Unit Coordinator Certification from the National Association of Health Unit Coordinators, Inc.
Technical Stack
- MS Office Suite
- Electronic Medical Record systems
- Phone systems
- Standard office equipment (faxing, copying, scanning, printing)
Team & Environment
You will partner closely with nursing and unit-based or hospital-wide clinicians and staff to coordinate day-to-day patient flow.
Work Mode
This is an onsite position located at 45 Francis Street.
