Mass General Brigham (McLean Hospital Corporation) is seeking a Unit Coordinator for our Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at Massachusetts General Hospital. You will provide essential administrative support to clinicians and staff, functioning as the key liaison between patients, visitors, and the care team. Your role is central to organizing priorities, managing confidential patient information, and partnering with nursing to coordinate day-to-day patient flow.
What You'll Do
- Perform clerical and other duties to assist in the general administration of the floor or unit.
- Greet and interact with patients, families, visitors, and coworkers in person and via communication tools.
- Receive, prioritize, organize, and manage information at the central nursing station and throughout the unit.
- Schedule consultations, tests, procedures, and patient transport to other departments.
- Enter accurate and timely information about admissions, discharges, and transfers into the electronic medical record.
- Contact ancillary service departments to obtain equipment, services, and supplies; track status and location; and facilitate repairs.
- May assist the manager with payroll duties, scheduling of staff, or supervision of unit secretaries.
What We're Looking For
- A High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- 2-3 years of administrative support experience.
Nice to Have
- An Associate's Degree in a related field of study.
- A Unit Coordinator Certification from the National Association of Health Unit Coordinators, Inc.
