About the Role

Penn State Berks is hiring an IT Support Specialist to join our customer-focused IT department. In this role, you will support the campus community by conveying technical information, adapting to changing challenges, and ensuring students, faculty, and staff have the tools they need.

What You'll Do

  • Provide customer service and technical support for hardware and software issues.
  • Diagnose, research, and resolve end-user issues following established protocols.
  • Communicate and translate technical information to non-technical users.
  • Train customers on new devices and technologies.
  • Install, configure, and test hardware and software on Windows and MAC devices.
  • Set up new equipment, maintain workstations, and provide appropriate access to systems.
  • Utilize and maintain knowledge bases, FAQs, and vendor documentation.
  • Contribute to documentation of incidents, processes, and training manuals.
  • Interact with hardware and software vendors.
  • Participate in the support and troubleshooting of applications, mobile devices, and servers.
  • Implement security policies and protocols.
  • Replace equipment at end-of-lifecycle.
  • Assist in tracking hardware and software inventory.
  • Supervise student staff members, including hiring and performance management.
  • Assist with technology needs for campus events and classroom technology support.

What We're Looking For

  • A General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or High School (HS) diploma.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in computer hardware installation and troubleshooting for Windows and MAC.
  • Software installation and troubleshooting experience.
  • Demonstrated customer service experience.
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with stakeholders and exercise independent judgment.
  • Ability to be adaptable to change, meet deadlines, and shift between independent and team work.
  • A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Endpoint Device Management (Big Fix, JAMF, InTune).
  • Network connectivity setup and troubleshooting.
  • Basic technical knowledge of computer security.
  • Experience with Audio Visual Systems.

  • Compensation range: $46,400.00 - $67,300.00.
