Responsibilities
- Evaluate research submissions for compliance with federal laws, HIPAA, and internal policies, identifying issues needing resolution before approval.
- Act as a point of contact between review committee members and research teams to gather missing details or clarifications.
- Attend review meetings and provide real-time guidance on regulatory and institutional requirements to committee chairs and members.
- Draft accurate, grammatically correct minutes reflecting complex scientific, ethical, and regulatory discussions in accordance with federal standards.
- Advise research personnel on addressing committee feedback and assess responses for compliance prior to final approval.
- Circulate meeting minutes for official review and confirmation by committee participants.
- Respond to inquiries from faculty and research staff regarding human subject research protocols and compliance expectations.
- Guide investigators in preparing complete and accurate applications for submission to the Human Research Protection Office.
- Stay current with evolving regulations, ethical guidelines, and industry practices affecting human subject research.
- Participate in the SWAT! Team, offering on-demand support during office hours to answer IRB-related questions from researchers and students.
- Assist colleagues as needed to ensure team continuity and efficient operations.
- Engage in ongoing professional development, including opportunities to attend national conferences in the field.
- Carry out additional tasks as assigned by supervisors or the review office.
