Washington University in St. Louis is seeking an Insurance/Billing Collections Assistant II to join the Department of Medicine Business Office. In this role, you will perform follow-up on insurance billing and collection activities, verifying the accuracy of claims and contacting insurance companies to expedite payments for physician services.
What You'll Do
- Perform insurance follow-up billing and collection duties on various financial classifications to ensure timely and accurate payment of physician charges.
- Review patient accounts to verify the accuracy of information including insurance, eligibility, invoice resolution, and correspondence.
- Utilize Epic, system tools, and payer websites for claim submission, status checks, attachments, and eligibility inquiries.
- Consistently meet Quality Assurance (QA) and meaningful efficiency standards for daily account work, following best practices for one-touch resolution.
- Interact with management and staff members to discuss issues.
What We're Looking For
- A high school diploma or equivalent high school certification, or a combination of education and/or experience.
- 2 years of experience in Bookkeeping/Accounting and/or a Medical Collection Setting.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Claims Resolution, Collections Strategies, and Insurance Follow Up.
- Knowledge of Medical Billing and Coding, Medical Terminology, and the ICD-10 Procedure Coding System.
- Proficiency with Epic EHR, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.
- Skills in Communication, Computer Literacy, Confidential Data Handling, Health Insurance Billing, HIPAA, Office Equipment, and Telephone Communications.
