Farmers Insurance is seeking an Insurance Defense Attorney to join its Detroit-area staff counsel team. In this role, you will represent clients across all areas of insurance defense, managing low-complexity cases from initial intake through resolution, with a focus on bodily injury/uninsured motorist (BI/UM) and personal injury protection (PIP) matters.
What You'll Do
- Litigate cases with low complexity and exposure, managing all phases from intake through trial and/or settlement.
- Prepare pleadings, motions, discovery, and briefs.
- Attend hearings, conferences, interviews, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
- Proactively inform leadership of case handling opportunities and challenges.
- Consult with the Claims Department regarding the legal aspects of files.
- May act as second chair or handle trials in cases with minimal complexity and exposure.
- May provide support to senior attorneys on more complex cases and receive developmental assignments of moderate complexity.
What We're Looking For
- Licensed to practice law in applicable state(s) upon hire.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor's degree.
- Experience in civil litigation and/or personal/bodily injury law.
