Gwinnett Technical College seeks a full-time, benefited Instructor, Nursing (Med/Surg) for its Nursing and Life Sciences Division. In this 12-month FLSA exempt role, you will prepare lesson plans for credited Nursing courses, focusing on medical-surgical nursing, and develop program syllabi, goals, and objectives, reporting directly to the Dean of Nursing and Life Sciences.
What You'll Do
- Prepare lesson plans for classroom and clinical instruction for credited Nursing courses.
- Deliver individualized programs of instruction and assess student educational needs and progress.
- Select appropriate educational materials and prepare reports on student status and program alignment.
- Serve as a mentor for adjunct faculty and ensure consistency in syllabi, lesson plans, and tests.
- Develop program and course outlines, goals, and objectives, preparing curricula with non-traditional content as needed.
- Follow designated lesson plans, participate in committee meetings, and submit program reports.
- Evaluate students' progress, establish criteria for measurement, and communicate results.
- Accurately maintain student records and manage classroom supplies and equipment budgets.
- Maintain program certification, attend required training, and ensure compliance with accreditation standards.
- Conduct program self-studies, prepare documentation and administrative reports, and analyze data for improvement.
- Maintain current field knowledge through professional development and ensure training area safety.
- Meet with students and staff and assist with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts.
What We're Looking For
- A Doctorate or Master's degree in the discipline OR pursuit of a Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in the discipline completed.
- Current RN licensure in Georgia.
- Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy all regulatory agencies and appropriate accrediting bodies for assigned courses.
Nice to Have
- Two years experience teaching college-level nursing courses or two years experience as a medical-surgical registered nurse.
- Experience in critical care nursing and simulation.
- Experience in course and curriculum development.
- Demonstrated flexibility with diverse student populations and learning styles.
- Experience with a variety of teaching strategies, including advanced instructional technologies.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and the community.
- Ability to teach in the classroom and in multiple clinical settings, with medical-surgical required.
- BLS/ACLS certification.
- Proficient written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated occupational competency.
- Computer literacy with common software programs.
- Some experience with online instruction.
- Some experience in mental health.
Team & Environment
You will report directly to the Dean of Nursing and Life Sciences as part of the Nursing and Life Sciences Division.
Benefits & Compensation
- Salary: $74,880.00 per year.
Work Mode
This is an onsite position based at the Lawrenceville campus, Monday through Friday. You may occasionally work at the Alpharetta-North Fulton Campus.
