Gwinnett Technical College is hiring a Practical Nursing Instructor for its Nursing Sciences Division. This is a full-time, benefited FLSA exempt position where you will prepare lesson plans for classroom and clinical instruction, evaluate students, and actively participate in curriculum development for the nursing program.
What You'll Do
- Prepare lesson plans for classroom and clinical instruction for credited Nursing courses.
- Deliver effective individualized programs of instruction.
- Ensure adherence to technical college and safety requirements in classrooms and labs.
- Correctly assess the educational needs and class progress of students.
- Select and obtain appropriate educational materials for courses.
- Prepare reports on student progress aligned with program goals.
- Serve as a mentor for adjunct faculty within the program area.
- Ensure consistency in syllabi, lesson plans, tests, and other materials.
- Develop program and course outlines, goals, and objectives.
- Participate in committee meetings relating to curriculum development and college activities.
- Evaluate students' progress in attaining goals and objectives and communicate progress.
- Request and maintain supplies and equipment and prepare required budget requests.
- Maintain program certification requirements and attend required training.
- Prepare and maintain all required documentation and administrative reports.
- Assist with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts.
What We're Looking For
- Current Georgia license as a registered professional nurse.
- Associates of Nursing, Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing OR Master’s degree in nursing.
- Minimum of three (3) years of practice as a licensed registered nurse within the preceding seven (7) years.
- Credentialed to satisfy all regulatory agencies and appropriate accrediting bodies for assigned courses.
- Ability to teach in the classroom and in multiple clinical settings; medical-surgical required.
- BLS certification required.
- Proficient in written and oral communication.
- Demonstrated occupational competency.
- Must be computer literate with the ability to use common software programs.
- Candidates are subject to pre-employment and random drug testing.
Nice to Have
- Two years’ experience teaching college-level nursing courses.
- Three years’ experience as a Medical-Surgical/Obstetrics/Pediatrics/Mental health registered nurse within the last seven years.
- Experience in simulation.
- Experience in course and curriculum development.
- Demonstrated flexibility with diverse student population and learning styles.
- Demonstrated experience with a variety of teaching strategies including the use of advanced instructional technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work effectively with faculty, staff, students, and the community.
- Some experience with online instruction.
Team & Environment
This position reports directly to the Dean of Nursing Sciences.
Benefits & Compensation
- Salary: $74,880 per year.
Work Mode
This is an onsite role based at the Lawrenceville campus, Monday through Friday. This position may occasionally work at the ANF campus.
