This role is responsible for delivering accurate, timely support to employees, retirees, and HR professionals across regional and corporate teams. As a key point of contact for benefits inquiries, the analyst ensures clear communication and consistent service while upholding compliance with federal and state regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a primary resource for benefit-related questions, providing clear, compliant guidance to employees, retirees, and HR partners
- Support the design, implementation, and ongoing management of health, welfare, and retirement programs
- Collaborate with vendors to administer plans, resolve issues, and maintain accurate records
- Analyze participation, cost, and utilization trends to inform decision-making and identify savings opportunities
- Prepare detailed reports on premiums, claims, and financial discrepancies, ensuring alignment with accounting and compliance standards
- Lead data validation for regulatory filings, nondiscrimination testing, and compliance audits
- Update and maintain benefits systems, processes, and documentation in response to legal or plan changes
- Assist in the evaluation of renewals, plan designs, and contract terms during open enrollment or M&A transitions
- Develop and distribute plan documents, summaries, and communications to employees and retirees
- Support benefits budgeting with variance analysis and forecasting inputs
- Coordinate project timelines and cross-functional initiatives to ensure on-time execution
Qualifications
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, accounting, or a related field. Experience level determines placement within the analyst tier structure: two years for Analyst II, four for III, and seven for IV—each requiring progressively advanced knowledge of benefits accounting, compliance, and program administration. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential, particularly Excel for data analysis. Familiarity with HRIS platforms such as JDE or UKG Pro is preferred. Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills are required, along with the ability to manage sensitive information discreetly.
Work Environment
This hybrid position is based in Bismarck, ND, with potential for remote work for qualified candidates. Regular onsite presence is expected for training and team collaboration. The role may require a valid driver’s license for occasional travel.
