Colorado Preparatory Academy (COPA), a Stride K12 partner school, is looking for a High School Special Education Teacher. You will be responsible for delivering course content in an online environment, managing the learning process, and focusing on the individual needs defined by each student's IEP. Your work involves active collaboration with students, parents, and related service staff to advance learning and ensure compliance.
What You'll Do
- Ensure all special education and related services are provided as determined by the IEP team.
- Communicate with parents and related service staff to ensure appropriate therapies.
- Develop compliant IEPs, progress reports, and other required state documentation.
- Facilitate and lead collaborative special education meetings.
- Use provided resources to ensure accommodations and modifications for students.
- Make modifications and accommodations to Stride K12 lessons and assessments as specified by the IEP.
- Ensure inclusion and success of students in the general education classroom.
- Collect data and work samples to monitor student progress towards IEP goals.
- Document all contact with parents and interventions with students.
- Analyze student data to prescribe remediation and enrichment.
- Provide rich and engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences.
- Maintain grade book, make promotion decisions, and alert administrators to concerns.
- Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests.
- Establish and maintain positive rapport with families through timely communication.
- Support learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic technical issues.
- Travel up to 20% of the time for professional development, testing, and school requirements.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree.
- Active state teaching license.
- Ability to clear required background check.
- Colorado Elementary Teaching Certification.
- Colorado residency.
- Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week.
- Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during the workday.
- Ability to work collaboratively to interpret student data and drive instructional decisions.
- Receptive to receiving regular coaching from administrators.
- Ability to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience working with the proposed age group.
- Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology.
- Experience teaching online (virtual) and/or in a brick-and-mortar environment.
- Experience with an online learning platform.

- Salary range: $54,555.00 - $60,000.00.
