Support individuals on their path to recovery as a Substance Use Counselor working across Maine. You'll provide both individual and group counseling, using evidence-based practices to guide clients toward sustained wellness. Sessions will take place in person and through telehealth platforms, offering flexibility while maintaining clinical rigor.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead therapeutic group sessions using structured, research-informed curricula
- Develop and update individualized treatment plans and progress notes
- Deliver one-on-one counseling as clinically indicated
- Maintain accurate records in electronic medical systems and ensure compliance with regulatory standards
- Collaborate with care teams and community partners to coordinate services
- Contribute to public health research initiatives through data reporting
- Participate in regular supervision, team meetings, and professional development
Qualifications
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s or graduate degree in behavioral health, social work, psychology, or a related field, along with a current Maine LADC or CADC license. Two to three years of direct experience in substance use treatment is required.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within service areas
- Experience with telehealth platforms such as Zoom
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including two evenings per week and occasional Saturdays
- Master’s degree in a related field is preferred
Work Environment
This is a hybrid role combining remote work with local travel. You’ll need reliable internet and a private space for virtual sessions. The schedule accommodates evening availability to meet client needs.
