Kiln is looking for a Head of Accounting to lead and build out our accounting department. You will ensure accurate, timely financial reporting while implementing robust financial operating procedures within our fast-paced, 85+ person organization. Your expertise will be critical in transitioning to IFRS, managing multi-entity consolidation, and navigating the unique challenges of crypto asset reporting.
What You'll Do
- Lead the integration of disparate ERP systems and consolidate charts of accounts across entities into a unified framework.
- Oversee the transition from local GAAP to IFRS, ensuring consistent accounting policies.
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes for both fiat and crypto ledgers.
- Manage and optimize accounts payable, expense reimbursements, and accounts receivable functions.
- Collaborate with external auditors to ensure audit readiness.
- Manage digital asset reporting and reconciliations.
- Implement robust financial controls and policies.
- Identify opportunities for process automation and efficiency improvements.
- Mentor the accounting team to build a scalable, high-performing department.
What We're Looking For
- A Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of accounting experience, ideally from a Big 4 firm and/or a BtoB software company.
- Proven expertise in multi-entity operations, including transitioning from local GAAP to IFRS and consolidating financial statements.
- Deep understanding of accounting principles, GAAP, and IFRS.
- Experience overseeing AP, AR, and expense reimbursement functions.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proven leadership skills with a proactive, hands-on approach in a fast-paced environment.
- Fluent in French and English (all written communication is in English).
- A genuine interest in Web3, blockchain, and cryptocurrency.
Nice to Have
- Experience working in a fast-growing startup.
- Familiarity with crypto accounting and its unique challenges.
- Experience leading financial audits with external auditors.
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., Netsuite, Xero) implementation.
- CPA, DSCG, or similar certification.
