Washington University in St Louis is looking for a Grant Specialist I to play a vital role in the sponsored project life cycle. This remote position ensures research proposals adhere to sponsor guidelines and are successfully submitted, supporting faculty, center directors, and staff in the field of genetics.
What You'll Do
- Perform pre-award duties for basic or moderately complex proposals.
- Work directly with faculty on proposal preparation and submission.
- Assist with budgeting, analysis, and justifications for funding applications.
- Serve as a liaison between the Chair, Faculty, and Department Administrators.
- Stay current on federal and university research administration developments.
- Compile and ensure accurate regulatory compliance of data from various sources.
- Prepare and review all agency forms for grant submission.
- Obtain PI and institutional signatures for proposals.
- Initiate subaward setup through the SUBS System.
- Coordinate with Post-award and OSRS for timely contract implementation.
- Provide internal notice of award documentation to relevant parties.
- Monitor and submit annual agency reports like Research Performance Progress Reports.
- Oversee the proper transfer of PI grants and contracts into WashU.
- Enter and maintain an online database of grant submissions and awards.
- Approve purchasing documents and guide staff on grant-appropriate expenditures.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1 year of relevant experience.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of Research Management System (RMS), SUBS System, and agency guidelines.
- Skills in Grant Administration, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, Adobe Acrobat, Workday Software, accounting, analytical thinking, and interpersonal communication.
