Canva is hiring a German Language Manager for a 12-month contract. You will be responsible for localizing Canva for the German market, acting as the creative hub for all content in German. You'll advise on branding and ensure international users have the best possible Canva experience.
What You'll Do
- Work with the Country Localisation Lead to create Canva’s voice across all parts of the Canva product in German.
- Translate key content and manage the relationship with our localisation partners for German.
- Develop and update a style guide and glossary.
- Review and evaluate translations.
- Provide cultural insights and guidance.
- Identify key opportunities for localisation improvements in German.
- Review vendor translations.
- Assess and source new LSPs.
- Answer linguistic questions.
- Triage results of scripted testing.
What We're Looking For
- Natural at writing clear, fun, and engaging content.
- Passionate about languages and cultures and understand how these impact product experience.
- Understand what customers in Germany need to understand and use Canva.
- Entrepreneurial spirit with a strong bias towards action and ownership.
- Energy and adaptability.
Nice to Have
- Copy-writing experience (e.g., maintain a blog or localisation for a SaaS product).
- Expert with CAT tools (experience with Smartling gets full marks) and other marketing tech stack tools (Braze, Wordpress, Canva).
- Solid understanding of organic growth (SEO).
- Some design experience or familiarity with design tools.
- Tertiary education in linguistics, literature, or localisation.
