At Canva, we’re looking for a German Language Manager on a 12-month contract. In this role, you will apply your linguistic and cultural expertise to the full localization process, ensuring German users enjoy the best possible Canva experience. You will act as the creative focal point for all German content and provide guidance on Canva’s branding in that market.

What You'll Do

Work with the Country Localisation Lead to define Canva’s voice across the entire product in German.
Translate key content and manage the relationship with our German localization partners.
Develop and update a German style guide and glossary.
Review and evaluate translations for quality and cultural fit.
Provide actionable cultural insights and guidance to the team.
Identify key opportunities to improve the German localization.
Review vendor translations.
Assess and source new Language Service Providers (LSPs).
Answer linguistic questions from stakeholders.
Triage results of scripted testing.

What We're Looking For

A natural ability to write clear, fun, and engaging content.
Passion for languages and cultures, with an understanding of how they impact product experience.
Deep understanding of what customers in Germany need to effectively use Canva.
An entrepreneurial spirit with a strong bias toward action and ownership.
High energy and adaptability.

Nice to Have

Copywriting experience, such as maintaining a blog or localizing for SaaS products.
Expertise with CAT tools (Smartling gets full marks) and marketing tools like Braze, Wordpress, and Canva.
A solid understanding of organic growth and SEO.
Design experience or familiarity with design tools.
A tertiary education in linguistics, literature, or localization.
