Welocalize is seeking a German Linguist to manage translation and copy-editing tasks, ensuring high-quality linguistic deliverables for assigned projects or accounts. In this role, you will coordinate with freelancers and agencies, maintain language resources, resolve terminology queries, and collaborate with clients and internal teams to enhance workflow efficiency.
What You'll Do
- Perform copy-edit and on-demand translation tasks on assigned projects or accounts.
- Provide lead support on assigned projects or accounts.
- Manage and maintain language materials, including glossaries and style guides, to required quality standards.
- Manage project-related queries and ensure good interaction among team members.
- Resolve questions on terminology and language matters.
- Test and qualify new freelancers and vendors as required.
- Develop and train internal linguists and external partners according to account needs.
- Interact with clients on linguistic matters as required.
- Participate in the development of new and improved working processes.
- Meet or exceed KPIs in terms of productivity, on-time delivery, and quality.
- Achieve the goals set by the team manager.
What We're Looking For
- University degree in Translation, Applied Languages, Linguistic Studies, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Native fluency in German.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken, in a variety of registers.
- 4+ years of experience in translation, localization, editing, or content writing.
- 2+ years of review experience.
- Thorough understanding of the localization process.
- Good user experience with standard software, such as Windows and Office applications.
- Good user experience with standard CAT tools (e.g., XTM, SDL Studio) and issue tracking tools (e.g., JIRA).
- Subject-matter expertise within the company for assigned content specialities.
- Ability to learn new localization tools and applications quickly.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent knowledge of terminology used in two or more subject matters.
- Ability to work with tight deadlines and give clear, concise, constructive feedback.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and linguists.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
- Ability and willingness to train others and pass on knowledge.
- Ability, willingness, and experience in communicating positively with customers at various levels.
- Ability to work within a virtual team.
