Your work will ensure fuel integrity under normal and off-normal operating scenarios, directly supporting the development of safe, high-performance energy solutions.

What You'll Do

  • Evaluate fuel behavior under a range of operational and postulated transient conditions using multi-physics modeling and simulation.
  • Develop and refine analysis methods to strengthen confidence in fuel design, including creating custom tools when necessary.
  • Verify and validate simulation software to ensure accuracy and reliability in performance predictions.
  • Support fuel testing initiatives by providing analytical insights and interpreting experimental results.
  • Work closely with reactor design, fuel fabrication, and regulatory teams to deliver technically sound feedback.
  • Document analyses and findings through clear, well-structured technical reports using modern documentation practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering and at least three years of relevant experience.
  • Proven background in multi-physics performance analysis of engineered systems.
  • Hands-on experience with finite element analysis tools such as Ansys or Abaqus.
  • Experience analyzing material behavior under thermal and mechanical stress.
  • Proficiency in an object-oriented programming language like Python or C++.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior work in nuclear fuel performance modeling and simulation.
  • Knowledge of metallic fuel systems and their performance characteristics.
  • Familiarity with specialized fuel analysis codes such as BISON or LIFE-METAL.
  • Strong experience in material selection and structural analysis for extreme environments.
  • Advanced fluency in Python for automation, data analysis, and tool development.

Benefits

  • Flexible time off policy
  • Equity participation
  • Competitive salary, with potential to exceed stated range based on experience
