Join GE Vernova’s Power Conversion and Storage business as a Field Service Engineer. You will be responsible for reactive maintenance, planned maintenance, fault diagnosis, and the delivery of time-critical installation and commissioning activities for drives and PLC-based automation systems. Your work ensures the successful completion of projects and service tasks within time and budgetary constraints.
What You'll Do
- Install, maintain, and commission drives (HV and LV) and PLC-based automation systems on industrial sites nationally and globally.
- Respond to customer breakdowns, managing and performing diagnostic and repair activities.
- Carry out reactive and planned maintenance activities on customer sites.
- Read and mark up equipment drawings and circuit diagrams for formal drawing office updates.
- Identify further opportunities to increase revenue while on customer sites.
- Participate in a 24/7 call-out rota supporting key service contract customers, providing remote support and on-site diagnosis and repair.
- Work to company-specified procedures and complete all mandatory company training.
- Provide timely and professional site reports.
- Comply with UK, company, and customer EHS legislation, proposing improvements where required.
- Compile Risk Assessments and Method Statements in preparation for customer site visits.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in electrical and/or power electronics engineering or a similar relevant discipline.
- A recognised engineering apprenticeship or Higher National Certificate in an Electrical Engineering discipline.
- Demonstrable understanding of electronic and electrical engineering drawings.
- Experience with PC/PLC equipment and variable speed drives.
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
- A self-motivated, dynamic, and flexible approach.
- The ability to work alone or with others, with minimal support, in a customer-facing environment.
- A flexible attitude to working patterns.
- Willingness and eligibility to work worldwide and offshore.
