GE Vernova’s Power Conversion and Storage business is hiring a Field Service Engineer. You will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, commissioning, and repair of drives and PLC-based automation systems on industrial sites globally. Your key functions will include reactive and planned maintenance, fault diagnosis, and supporting a 24/7 call-out rota.
What You'll Do
- Install, maintain, and commission drives (HV and LV) and PLC-based automation systems on industrial sites nationally and globally.
- Respond to customer breakdowns and manage/perform diagnostic and repair activities.
- Carry out reactive and planned maintenance activities on customer sites nationally and globally.
- Read and mark up equipment drawings and circuit diagrams for formal drawing office updates.
- Identify further revenue opportunities while on customer sites.
- Participate in a 24/7 call-out rota supporting key service contract customers, providing remote support and on-site repair.
- Work to company-specified procedures.
- Complete mandatory company training and obtain/maintain competence-related qualifications.
- Provide timely and professional site reports.
- Comply with UK, Company, and Customer EHS legislation and propose improvements.
- Compile Risk Assessments and Method Statements for customer site visits.
- Work alone or as part of a larger team.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in electrical and/or power electronics engineering or a similar relevant discipline.
- Recognised engineering apprenticeship or Higher National Certificate in an Electrical Engineering discipline.
- Demonstrable understanding of electronic and electrical engineering drawings.
- Experience with PC/PLC equipment.
- Experience with variable speed drives.
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Self-motivated, dynamic, and flexible.
- Able to work alone or with others, with minimal support, in a customer-facing environment.
- Flexible attitude to working pattern.
- Willing and eligible to work world-wide and offshore.
