Black & Veatch is hiring a Field Quality Manager to ensure the effective implementation of quality control policies across major projects. This role is a 12-month contract with potential for extension, hired through a local third-party agency. You will promote and evaluate QC standards, manage site QC staff, and act as the quality interface between engineering, construction, commissioning, project management, and the client.
What You'll Do
- Establish, implement, and maintain the site quality program and plan, including KPIs.
- Coordinate with vendor coordinators, construction, commissioning, engineers, suppliers, subcontractors, and regulatory representatives to ensure work is performed correctly.
- Assure on-site work meets applicable codes and specifications.
- Develop and administer site-specific Quality Programs and Quality Plans.
- Conduct surveillance and audits of site contractor quality control programs.
- Monitor and ensure proper documentation of site hydro tests and NDE testing.
- Review and control documentation for commissioning and testing equipment certification.
- Review turnover packages at Mechanical Completion.
- Assist in coordinating punchlist walkdowns and manage the punchlist process.
- Create staffing forecasts for the Quality Team.
- Assist in collating QC documentation for final handover to the Owner.
- Develop strong working relationships with consortium partners, clients, and regulatory (DNV) representatives.
- Develop and implement quality programs to help meet company and division goals.
- May act as a Quality Consultant for internal and external clients or provide temporary fill-in support.
- Provide supervision, training, development, and performance management for direct reports.
- Act as a mentor to other quality professionals.
- Implement Safety, Quality, and Ethical Standards, Lessons Learned, and Performance Management programs.
- Supervise the work of others and be responsible for hiring and discipline of site QC inspectors and representatives.
What We're Looking For
- 7+ years as a Superintendent with a degree, or 10+ years without a degree.
- 10+ years of Korean Shipyard experience.
- 10+ years of experience in Oil & Gas, FLNG, and LNG Projects.
- Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements, which may include background checks, drug screens, and motor vehicle records searches.
Nice to Have
- High School Diploma or geographical equivalent.
- A 4-year degree in Engineering, Quality, Business, or a related discipline.
- Knowledge of quality standards, construction technology, and the EPC industry specific to Shipbuilding, Oil & Gas, FLNG, and LNG.
- Constructability knowledge and ability to read Erection Drawings (e.g., GA's, P&ID's, Isometrics).
- Knowledge of National and International Codes, Standards, Rules, and Regulatory Requirements for these sectors.
- Knowledge of Quality Management Systems.
- Understanding of project and department budget processes, project controls, and risk assessment/management.
- Knowledge of administrative policies, Construction Project Management Systems, and construction contracting strategies.
- Conceptual planning ability and knowledge of company quality consulting capabilities.
- Ability to effectively interface with consortium partners, clients, and regulatory representatives in a multi-cultural environment.
- Strong communication, conflict management, leadership, and human relations skills in a multi-cultural setting.
- Ability to effectively manage emergencies, write detailed reports, and multi-task (prioritize, organize, schedule).
- Problem-solving, project management skills, and proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet software.
- Familiarity with time reporting and expense reporting systems.
Team & Environment
You will manage site QC staff for assigned projects and act as the quality interface with multiple project teams, including Home Office Engineering, Field Engineering, Construction, Commissioning, Project Management, corporate offices, partners, and clients.
