Stage 3 is looking for a Field Leader - Solids Control to serve as the on-site expert and team leader for our operations in the Bakken Basin. You will be the key figure ensuring the safety, productivity, and operational excellence of our solids control services, directly impacting our commitment to technology innovation and integrity.
What You'll Do
- Lead and develop Solids Control field teams of up to 20 technicians through hands-on supervision, training, and performance management.
- Oversee daily field operations day and night to ensure safety, productivity, and equipment reliability.
- Collaborate closely with fellow Field Leaders, Technicians, and Trainees to deliver seamless, high-quality service.
- Maintain accountability for all solids control activities in the 'backyard' of assigned rig sites, ensuring full operational readiness.
- Report directly to the Basin Area Manager, providing critical insight and leadership.
- Oversee technicians operating and maintaining solids control equipment like shaker tanks, centrifuges, drying equipment, and pumps.
- Perform and oversee standard rig-up and rig-down procedures while coaching technicians.
- Oversee services such as air drilling, barite recovery, de-watering, fluid transfers, and cuttings drying.
- Perform drilling fluid analysis and understand drilling fluid properties.
- Oversee and perform routine maintenance and electrical services on equipment.
- Oversee and mentor technicians on moving cuttings using heavy machinery.
- Perform rig audits and pick up/deliver necessary equipment to rig sites.
- Make grocery runs with/for technicians and maintain clean, orderly living and work areas.
- Audit daily safety reports (PJRA/JSA), inspection reports, observation reports, and checklists.
- Oversee PPE/FR protocols and lead by example on all safety measures.
- Work in the shop on crossover days, send weekly updates to Area Leaders, and input data into company systems.
- Operate and oversee heavy machinery including excavator, forklift, or Wheel Loader.
- Transport technicians to different locations and move between rig sites overseeing operations.
What We're Looking For
- 36 months (3+ years) of verifiable Solids Control experience and more than one year supervising field staff.
- Ability to work a 17 days on, 11 days off rotation, 12-hour shifts, and be away from home for extended periods.
- Expert-level understanding of oil and gas drilling processes and Environmental Services.
- Basic electrical knowledge for troubleshooting and prior Forklift, Excavator, or Wheel Loader experience/certifications.
- Must complete a mentor certification program to handle interpersonal issues appropriately.
- Proven ability to cultivate a culture of safety and productivity, and build effective relationships with employees and customers.
- Must be mechanically inclined, customer service oriented, professional, patient, and able to motivate and empower others.
- Ability to problem-solve, troubleshoot, multi-task, and meet deadlines efficiently.
- Valid safety certifications (PEC Safe Land, H2S, CPR/First Aid, or customer-specific).
- Able to work outdoors in all conditions, share living accommodations professionally, and travel domestically to remote rig sites.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook required) and ability to read, write, and comprehend English.
- Valid State driver’s license, insurance, acceptable driving record, and ability to maintain a company vehicle.
- Must pass a performance evaluation, Pre-employment Fit for duty test, drug test (urine and hair follicle), and background check.
Nice to Have
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- 2-year Associate’s degree or technical diploma in Technology, Electronics, Mechanics, or a similar field.
Team & Environment
You will report directly to the Basin Area Manager and oversee a team of up to 20 technicians on rotational schedules, collaborating closely with other field staff and contractors to deliver integrated services.

This is an onsite position based in the Bakken Basin, United States. You will be assigned to one or multiple remote rig locations based on business needs.
