Lead Banquet Captain
Oversee the full lifecycle of banquet and catering events, from initial planning to final breakdown, ensuring every detail supports a high standard of guest service. This role leads teams in both stationary and remote service settings, managing setup, bar operations, and event execution with precision and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct the preparation, service, and closing procedures for retail food and beverage events, including bar setup and operation as needed.
- Assign roles and responsibilities to staff before and during events, ensuring alignment with event orders and service expectations.
- Review banquet menus and event details in advance, conducting pre-service meetings to confirm hygiene standards, station assignments, and team readiness.
- Coordinate with kitchen leadership and event planners to verify food timing, quantities, and special requests, communicating changes promptly.
- Ensure all necessary service items—china, glassware, linens, and equipment—are available and properly stored; initiate requisitions when inventory is insufficient.
- Inspect room layouts prior to guest arrival and confirm food dispatch timelines with the Executive Chef.
- Monitor service throughout events, conducting spot checks on food temperature, presentation, availability, and staff up-selling performance.
- Track event schedules and updates, adapting to changes in real time while maintaining operational safety and compliance.
- Complete required training for responsible alcohol service and adhere to all state regulations.
- Maintain regular attendance and support additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Candidates should have 1–2 years of experience in banquet, catering, or hospitality operations, or a combination of relevant training and education. Prior leadership in banquet settings is preferred. All applicants must meet state-mandated age requirements for serving alcohol and complete certified beverage service training.
Work Environment
This is an onsite position located in Greenville, SC. The role operates in a dynamic event setting requiring physical activity, adaptability, and consistent reliability.
Compensation and Benefits
Pay rate ranges from $19.00 to $20.00 per hour. Eligible employees may participate in a 401(k) savings plan with company matching.
