North Idaho College is hiring a Family Advocate for its Head Start program. You will work directly with families and children to ensure they receive the support and resources needed to thrive, connecting them with vital community services and fostering their development.
What You'll Do
- Work one-on-one with families and children to identify needs, set goals, and provide necessary support.
- Connect families with community services and offer referrals.
- Maintain program standards and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Conduct home visits to assess family strengths and challenges.
- Provide crisis support as needed.
- Participate in recruitment and enrollment through community outreach and advertising.
- Keep accurate and up-to-date family records.
- Conduct health and developmental screenings.
What We're Looking For
- Level I: Associates degree in Social Services.
- Level II: Bachelors degree in Social Services.
- Experience as a staff member or volunteer in a preschool classroom.
- Register with Idaho STARS and participate in the professional development system.
- Meet all training and certification requirements for childcare licensing and Head Start Program Performance Standards.
- Maintain current Infant/child & Adult CPR and First Aid certification.
- Meet the terms of the Statement of Agreement/ Employment Declaration.
- Pass an enhanced criminal background check including fingerprinting, as required, prior to the first day of work.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with people from diverse ethnic, cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- Working knowledge of computers and software for Internet, email, word processing, and data management.
- Positive approach to Early Childhood Development programs, health, and social services.
- Demonstrated written, oral, and organizational skills.
- Understanding of theories of social work ethics, early childhood education, and child and family development.
- Demonstrate professional ethics and confidentiality.
- Represent the Head Start program positively and professionally in the community.
