About the Role

Catawiki is looking for an Expert Jewellery specialist in Japan to elevate the quality and commercial success of our pre-owned and branded jewellery auctions. You will apply your gemmological knowledge and market insight to curate compelling auctions that attract bidders and sellers, all while upholding our high standards for transparency.

What You'll Do

  • Evaluate submitted lots by reviewing titles, descriptions, and images, providing well-supported value estimates.
  • Curate attractive auctions by balancing quality, market demand, and commercial potential.
  • Maintain standards of transparency and fairness through professional communication with sellers.
  • Partner with Sales to recruit and develop new sellers, diversifying auction selections.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to increase bidder attention and drive auction engagement.
  • Support dispute resolution by applying expert judgement and acting as a trusted mediator.

What We're Looking For

  • Expert knowledge of pre-owned and branded jewellery.
  • Gemmology Diploma from an FEEG and GIA recognised school.
  • At least 5 years of experience in the jewellery trade, including manufacturing and quality control.
  • Proven experience appraising and assessing pre-owned and brand jewellery.
  • Strong understanding of market prices and commercial curation for online auctions.
  • An established network of sellers and experts, with documented commercial or customer-facing experience.
  • Fluent English and Japanese language skills, strong communication abilities, solid computer skills, and diplomatic judgement.
