Catawiki is looking for an Expert in Japanese Antiquities & Contemporary Art to join our global marketplace. In this role, you'll apply your deep expertise to curate weekly auctions and act as a key commercial representative, directly shaping our expansion in the Japanese art market.
What You'll Do
- Evaluate and arrange lots submitted by users, applying your knowledge of Japanese art and antiques.
- Create attractive lot listings each week, leveraging your expertise and extensive professional network.
- Act as a commercial representative for Catawiki at art fairs, engaging directly with buyers and sellers.
- Negotiate effectively to facilitate successful transactions, fostering trust and transparency.
- Play an essential role in expanding Catawiki's market in Japan by strategically growing new supply areas.
- Launch targeted campaigns to attract younger collectors, including Gen Z.
What We're Looking For
- Expertise in Japanese Art & Antiques, with a particular emphasis on modern and contemporary Japanese art.
- Commercial acumen and proven experience negotiating deals and representing a platform at fairs and exhibitions.
- Professional trading experience on leading platforms like Catawiki, 1stDibs, eBay, or Yahoo! JAPAN Auction.
- Skills in optimizing auction strategies (reserve price, sell rate, cash flow) and tracking performance, guiding sellers on market trends.
- A strategic mindset for growing Catawiki's marketing initiatives in Japan, focusing on engaging young collectors.
- Outstanding communication skills in Japanese and English.
- Strong computer skills and familiarity with online sales platforms.
- A robust network of potential sellers, buyers, and experts in Japanese Art & Antiques, with the ability to tap into new supply areas.
- Diplomatic competence for mediating disputes and maintaining excellent user relations.
