Allstate is looking for an Early Career Trial Attorney to join our legal team. In this remote role based in Baton Rouge, LA, you will handle a variety of insurance defense matters, including bodily injury and property damage lawsuits, trials, arbitrations, and mediations. Beyond the courtroom, you will provide vital counsel to business clients and coordinate between legal teams, contributing directly to our mission of protecting families from life's uncertainties.
What You'll Do
- Manage all aspects of insurance defense litigation from case inception to verdict, including initial assessment, discovery, depositions, motion practice, pre-trial negotiations, courtroom advocacy, and post-trial motions.
- Gather and organize documents, evidence, and legal research for hearings, trials, arbitrations, mediations, and depositions.
- Conduct legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and case precedents; prepare summaries and reports.
- Prepare and draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and other legal documents.
- Interview clients and witnesses, draft summaries of their statements, and maintain communication records.
- Attend court hearings, depositions, and other legal proceedings to observe and assist as needed; may represent the company or clients in routine matters.
- Monitor changes in laws and regulations, and assist in updating the legal team on potential impacts to ongoing cases.
- Participate in training sessions and mentorship programs to develop your legal skills.
What We're Looking For
- Juris Doctorate.
- Active membership in good standing with the Louisiana state bar.
- Able to complete legal research, writing, and analysis.
- Demonstrates strong time management skills, effectively balancing multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Capable of organizing case files, managing legal documents, and understanding the discovery process.
- Skilled in communicating with clients, preparing summaries, and maintaining records of interactions.
- Well-versed in legal ethics and the standards of professional conduct.
- Equipped with fundamental negotiation techniques and strategies for client interactions and settlement discussions.
- Must be able to travel periodically to Lafayette and surrounding areas; the majority of work centers on legal files in the greater Baton Rouge area.

Work Mode
This is a remote position for candidates based in the Baton Rouge, LA area, with periodic travel required to Lafayette and surrounding locations.
