Responsibilities
- Leads the strategic planning and daily management of a globally distributed Rights & Clearances team operating across multiple time zones.
- Collaborates with the VP Legal to oversee departmental budgets, including compensation and travel expenses.
- Partners with Business Affairs to manage the review and tracking of third-party deliverables for CNN Original Series and CNN Films.
- Oversees team members in Rights & Clearances and maintains coordination with the Business Affairs team.
- Acts as the primary contact for the CNN Tribute Award Show, handling all talent and performer agreements and securing rights for third-party materials; evaluates usage terms and creates guidance for editorial teams.
- Secures third-party assets such as video, photos, and audio for worldwide use across all CNN networks and platforms; drafts and negotiates license agreements, identifies potential rights issues, and advises on copyright compliance.
