What You'll Do
- Shape and execute federal government affairs strategies that support corporate goals, working closely with internal teams and external partners.
- Analyze proposed federal legislation and regulatory actions to assess impact on operations, access to technology, and market conditions.
- Advise leadership on policy positions and develop targeted messaging for lawmakers, regulators, and coalition partners.
- Engage directly with federal officials, agency staff, and industry coalitions to advance priorities related to healthcare innovation and patient access.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments, providing timely updates and strategic recommendations to internal stakeholders.
- Represent the organization in trade associations and collaborative policy groups, helping to influence national conversations on science, technology, and healthcare policy.
- Coordinate high-level meetings, briefings, and events involving executives and government leaders to strengthen institutional relationships.
- Support political engagement activities in compliance with applicable laws, contributing to a favorable policy environment.
- Develop advocacy materials, testimony, and presentations for use in regulatory and legislative forums.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align government affairs initiatives with business unit objectives and market needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and 15–18 years of relevant experience, including over a decade in leadership roles within government affairs, public policy, or regulatory affairs.
- Proven experience engaging with Congress, federal agencies, and executive branch officials.
- Deep understanding of the federal legislative and rulemaking process, with strong analytical skills in interpreting complex policy documents.
- Experience advising senior executives and representing organizations in high-stakes policy discussions.
- Demonstrated ability to build consensus across diverse stakeholders and lead multi-party initiatives.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical or scientific topics clearly to non-expert audiences.
- Strategic thinker who can manage multiple priorities, adapt to shifting political landscapes, and operate effectively under pressure.
- Commitment to compliance with federal regulations and ethical standards in lobbying and political activities.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to corporate offices and external events.
- Residency in the greater Washington D.C. metropolitan area is required.
