Decima International is looking for a Director, Cost Management to provide strategic leadership for financial discipline across a portfolio of hyperscale data center construction projects. You will direct cost management efforts, partner with senior stakeholders, and lead a team of cost managers across multiple regions.
What You'll Do
- Lead and oversee regional and project cost control functions to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
- Direct the development and maintenance of robust cost control systems, processes, tools, and reporting.
- Coordinate with project managers and engineers to monitor cost data, identify variances, and guide corrective actions.
- Oversee tracking of project performance against budgets and schedules, proactively identifying financial risks.
- Supervise advanced cost analyses and scenario modeling to support executive decision-making.
- Manage and approve the preparation of project proposals, estimates, and budgets.
- Advise on contract negotiation and administration with subcontractors and vendors.
- Review and approve contractor invoices and payment applications for compliance.
- Oversee the management of change orders across all regional projects.
- Review and present comprehensive monthly and quarterly cost performance reports to senior leadership.
- Ensure all cost control activities align with internal policies, client standards, and industry best practices.
- Contribute strategically to business development efforts, including proposal development.
- Mentor, manage, and develop cost management personnel within the region.
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
What We're Looking For
- 15+ years of cost control or cost engineering experience in construction or infrastructure.
- At least 5 years managing cost management teams or regional operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Finance, Accounting, or a related technical field.
- Experience in the development and construction of hyperscale data centers or similar large-scale, mission-critical projects.
- Expert knowledge of cost management principles, including forecasting, variance analysis, and change management.
- Extensive experience using cost management software and tools such as SAP and Microsoft Excel.
- Demonstrated success in managing large-scale project budgets and resolving complex cost discrepancies.
- Strong ability to interpret financial data and communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Nice to Have
- Master’s degree in Construction Management, Finance, Engineering Management, or a related field.
- Prior experience specifically in hyperscale data center development and construction.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Cost Professional (CCP) or Project Management Professional (PMP).
- Expertise in Earned Value Management (EVM) and integrated risk-cost-schedule methodologies.
- Active membership in PMI, AACE, or similar professional associations.
