DaVita is hiring a Director, Assistant General Counsel to provide strategic advice on traditional labor issues for our growing public company. You will be part of a team creating strategies to support teammates, drive efficiencies, and help DaVita lead as the Partner and Employer of Choice in a heavily regulated environment.
What You'll Do
- Provide guidance to the Company, Senior Executives, and the Labor Relations team on labor law, union campaigns, and matters before state agencies and the NLRB.
- Manage outside counsel on unfair labor practice proceedings, including managing costs to ensure effective use of resources.
- Conduct management training regarding labor relations and federal and California workplace issues.
- Advise senior management and business units on labor compliance and risk management to accomplish business objectives.
- Keep senior management informed of significant NLRB decisions, legislation, and rulings affecting the business.
- Develop a deep understanding of the Company's business, people, markets, and competitors to formulate appropriate strategies.
- Establish working relationships with teammates at all levels to encourage proactive use of in-house counsel.
- Perform special assignments or projects.
- Travel a minimum of 25%, depending on location.
What We're Looking For
- J.D. Degree with a minimum of 10 years of legal experience.
- 7–10 years of traditional labor experience, including labor relations, union campaigns, and matters before state agencies and the NLRB.
- A State bar qualification and good standing.

- Ability to accomplish both recurring tasks and complicated analysis in a high-volume environment.
Nice to Have
- Experience working with healthcare clients and unions (e.g., SEIU-UHW, NNU) is a plus.
- Law firm experience preferred; additional in-house experience preferred.

This role is part of DaVita’s law department, which counsels all aspects of the company and provides legal support for all transactions.

- Salary range: $129,000.00 - $205,000.00 per year.
