Support individuals with intellectual, developmental, mental health, and behavioral health challenges in a residential setting in the West Mifflin area of Pittsburgh. This full-time role operates on a fixed rotating schedule, requiring availability across varying shifts, including evenings, overnights, and weekends. You will work directly with a multidisciplinary care team to implement individualized support plans and promote each person’s independence, safety, and well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide consistent, respectful support to individuals with complex needs, including those related to substance use and behavioral health
- Apply training-based strategies to manage daily living activities and behavioral support plans
- Assist with mobility, including lifting or transferring individuals as needed, up to 50+ pounds
- Follow strict safety and ethical protocols to prevent harm and immediately report any concerns of abuse or neglect
- Collaborate with team members to ensure continuity of care and consistent communication
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Valid driver’s license and three years of clean driving history
- Willingness to complete PA state and federal background clearances, including criminal history, child abuse, and FBI checks
- Pre-employment requirements include drug screening, tuberculosis test, and physical exam
- Prior experience in direct care, especially supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, is essential
- Demonstrated empathy, patience, and ability to follow care protocols consistently
- Physical ability to lift and assist individuals as part of daily responsibilities
