AECOM is seeking a motivated Deputy Design Manager to join a global team delivering a better world. You will support colocation and hyperscale data center projects from site due diligence and campus planning through design, construction documents, and construction administration, with increasing independence.
What You'll Do
- Support the Design Manager in daily project coordination activities across disciplines.
- Prepare meeting agendas and minutes, progressing toward independent ownership.
- Capture accurate technical notes during interdisciplinary meetings and coordinate with discipline leads.
- Attend client meetings and track key decisions, risks, and action items.
- Proactively assist in tracking, managing, and communicating project changes.
- Grow into serving as backup to the Design Manager when required.
- Coordinate internal and external design meetings using platforms like Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Google Meet.
- Track action items and follow up with internal teams for timely resolution.
- Distribute client communications and internal updates to maintain alignment.
- Maintain organized project documentation including RFIs, submittals, and drawing revisions.
- Update spreadsheets, dashboards, trackers, and reporting tools.
- Assist with specification edits and data entry within internal systems.
- Develop innovative tracking mechanisms and suggest process improvements.
- Manage project files across SharePoint, Google Drive, Box, and MS Teams.
- Ensure QA/QC sets, daily prints, and deliverables are properly prepared and stored.
- Assist in assembling final deliverables prior to submission.
- Support managers in developing technical and financial proposals for new data center projects.
What We're Looking For
- BA/BS + 4 YORE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- 2+ years of experience working in architecture or engineering firms.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Architecture License.
- 4 years of relevant experience in design and/or project management.
- 1 year in colocation and/or hyper-scale data center design management or engineering.
- Excellent communication and organization skills.
- Ability to work in dynamic, time-sensitive situations.
