Gap Inc. is seeking a Data Governance Manager focused on Customer, Marketing, and Commerce to join our enterprise data governance team. In this role, you will act as a subject matter expert, prioritizing high-value use cases and collaborating cross-functionally to ensure data consistency, integrity, and its strategic use as a product.
What You'll Do
- Articulate, interpret, and apply data strategy principles to complex business problems spanning multiple functions.
- Drive independent workshops with the business to understand use cases and facilitate stakeholder solutions.
- Lead the implementation of data governance policies for data sharing, retention, and PII protection.
- Lead data governance forums to ensure effective oversight and achieve desired outcomes.
- Take ownership of building the customer, loyalty, and marketing business metrics library and serve as lead finance data steward.
- Oversee data source identification, controls monitoring, data quality frameworks, and metadata management.
- Define and gather business functional data quality rules for core customer metrics.
- Support transformation programs like customer loyalty to enable fast, frictionless access to trusted data.
- Optimize data hierarchy structures and lead hierarchy enrichment initiatives.
- Understand downstream impacts and communicate data changes effectively.
- Influence other teams to adopt data governance processes and procedures.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Computer Science, MIS, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in data stewardship or data analytics, preferably in retail.
- Strong understanding of customer domain master data and metadata for marketing and commerce.
- Previous hands-on experience with data quality management and tools like Collibra or Alation.
- Knowledge of applications and databases such as Stibo, Profisee, and Informatica.
- Leadership presence with ability to present to C-Suite executives.
- Ability to analyze data and extrapolate knowledge to make strong recommendations.
- Strong ability to influence stakeholders and set priorities.
