Financial Times is hiring a Customer Relationship Executive/Manager

About the Role

Drive client success through strategic relationship management in a role that combines account growth, retention, and cross-functional collaboration. You’ll take ownership of annual upsell and renewal targets, working directly with senior stakeholders to understand their evolving business needs and deliver tailored solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead retention and expansion initiatives by maintaining a deep understanding of client operations, goals, and decision-making structures.
  • Proactively manage account health, identifying risks early and implementing actions to prevent downgrades or cancellations.
  • Coordinate with Customer Success and internal support teams to resolve issues efficiently and strengthen client confidence.
  • Conduct regular in-person and virtual meetings to build trust and uncover new opportunities for value creation.
  • Track all sales activity and forecast accuracy in Salesforce, ensuring transparency and timely follow-up.
  • Stay informed on market trends, competitor activity, and client-specific developments to position offerings effectively.
  • Share customer insights to inform product development and guide cross-selling strategies.
  • Plan renewal timelines well in advance, initiating outreach at least three months before contract end dates.

What You Bring

  • Proven experience in consultative account management with a track record of meeting or exceeding retention and revenue goals.
  • Strong ability to cross-sell using value-based positioning and strategic insight.
  • Experience engaging with senior-level stakeholders in client organisations.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Fluency in both English and business-level Japanese.
  • A collaborative mindset and initiative to build relationships across teams and geographies.

Work Environment

This role operates under a 50% hybrid model, averaging two to three days onsite. Flexible working arrangements are supported where possible.
