Country Manager/Technical Sales Manager for Food Ingredients in South Africa
representing a prominent European Food Ingredients Distribution Company
Candidate Requirements:
- Mandatory background in Business-to-Business Food Ingredients sales from a Distributor or Producer
- South Africa positioned as second African expansion hub
- Essential Qualification: Food Technology Degree with proven Ingredients Sales Experience
- Opportunity to establish a local limited company in preferred location like Johannesburg or Cape Town
- Representing premium value-added Food Ingredients from leading international suppliers
Tasks
We require a Country Manager (25% role)/Sales Manager (75% role) with demonstrated food technology and sales expertise.
· Responsible for establishing business operations in South Africa, driving market performance and sales growth within food industry sector.
· Role encompasses comprehensive understanding of food technology, sales management, logistics, and cross-functional team leadership including government relations, partnerships, operations, and local marketing.
· Country Manager will ensure operational excellence, monitor local market dynamics, identify sales opportunities, and cultivate strategic partnerships with food producers.
Requirements
· Bachelor/Master Degree in Food Technology (mandatory)
· Minimum 5 years food industry experience (production/sales)
· Technological problem-solving capabilities and product development passion
· Superior communication and analytical skills, highly organized, motivational leadership
· Strong negotiation abilities, constructive mindset
· Fluent English communication
· Willing to travel
· Business strategic thinking
· Advanced computer proficiency
Technical Sales Manager Responsibilities:
· Market and supplier product range analysis
· Develop robust food producer relationships
· Create ingredient-specific sales strategies
· Customer needs assessment and value proposition development
· Ingredient application advisory and customized recipe creation
· Conduct production and application kitchen trials
· Manage pricing, project tracking, and customer payment follow-ups
