Farmers Insurance is hiring a Complex Trial Attorney to join our California staff counsel team. In this remote role, you’ll represent clients across all areas of insurance defense, managing high-complexity cases from intake through resolution, including serving as first or second chair at trial.
What You'll Do
- Litigate cases of high complexity and exposure, involving unique legal or procedural issues, to full resolution through trial and/or settlement.
- Prepare pleadings, motions, discovery, and briefs.
- Act as the lead attorney at hearings, conferences, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
- Develop trial strategies and utilize knowledge of legal precedents to analyze probable case outcomes.
- Identify strengths and weaknesses of case approaches.
- Assume responsibility as first or second chair for cases in late-stage litigation and trials.
- Handle matters within your state of licensure and may seek admission in other jurisdictions.
- Lead knowledge sharing of industry legal trends and developments.
- Provide job-related guidance, mentoring, and training to other attorneys.
- Consult with the Claims Executive team on legal strategy recommendations for personal injury claims.
- Provide guidance to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Interpret applicable industry laws, rulings, and regulations.
- Functionally supervise assisting attorneys as a development opportunity.
What We're Looking For
- Licensed to practice Law in applicable states required upon hire.
- Experience handling matters that are high complexity and/or exposure, including first chair jury trial experience and/or comparable court experience.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor's degree.
- Multistate jurisdictional practice strongly preferred.
