MD Anderson Cancer Center is hiring an experienced Clinical Nurse - Critical Care for a 55-bed ICU. In this role, you will provide patient-focused care through a multidisciplinary team approach, accountable for managing patient care and collaborating with physicians and other services.
What You'll Do
- Manage and provide patient care in your assigned area.
- Assess patient needs for nursing care and the multidisciplinary team.
- Collaborate with physicians, other services, patients, and families to plan care and evaluate outcomes.
- Integrate research study results and theories to improve practice.
- Participate in data collection for current studies.
- Demonstrate clinical competency and compassion in providing care, using technology, administering medications, performing procedures, and managing emergencies.
- Document care according to established standards.
- Access, input, and retrieve information from computer systems.
- Assure continuity of care through discharge planning, patient education, and coordination of services.
- Act as a patient and family advocate to uphold patient rights.
- Train, coach, and assist team members to ensure optimal patient care and efficient resource use.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
- At least 1 year of RN experience.
- Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license.
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
- PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification if working in the Nursing Post Anesthesia Care Unit.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
- At least 2 years of ICU RN experience.
- OCN - Oncology Nurse Certification.
- Certification in a specialty practice area.
