NextCare is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Clinical Care Specialist (Medical Assistant) to join our team. This role supports our urgent care clinics by providing direct patient care, ensuring a smooth patient experience, and working collaboratively under the supervision of a Provider.
What You'll Do
- Assist the provider with exams, procedures, and direct patient care, including taking patient vitals.
- Administer medications per policy and Provider direction, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Perform blood draws and urine collection for various tests, including employer drug screens.
- Conduct various physicals such as sports physicals.
- Perform urgent care-specific duties like ear lavage, wound care, and oxygen administration.
- May perform splinting and casting.
- Promptly notify the Provider on duty of all unusual patient occurrences, including medication events.
- Notify the Clinic Manager of any patient or employee safety concerns.
- Follow guidelines and requirements for laboratory and clinical accreditation.
- Support Front Office Reception by informing patients of wait times, monitoring patient flow, and processing discharges including preparing charges, collecting payment, and obtaining signatures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Completed an APPROVED (accredited) Medical Assistant training program; OR
- Completed an UNAPPROVED (non-accredited) Medical Assistant training program AND holds a National Certification through AAMA (CMA), AMT (RMA), or NHA (CCMA); OR
- Completed an UNAPPROVED medical assistant training program AND has one (1) year or more of employment as a medical assistant post-program, OR has verifiable work experience directly supervised by a Provider or Physician Group for a minimum of 2000 hours or one year.
- Must be proficient in EMR/EHR systems.
