NextCare is hiring a Medical Assistant to join our urgent care team. You will provide direct patient care in a fast-paced environment, supporting providers with exams, procedures, and related tasks. This role may also involve supporting front office reception duties.
What You'll Do
- Assist providers with exams, procedures, and direct patient care under supervision, including taking patient vitals.
- Administer all forms of medication per policy and Provider direction, adhering to safety protocols.
- Perform blood draws per Provider direction.
- May conduct urine collection for various testing, including employer drug screens.
- May perform splinting and casting.
- Conduct various physicals such as sports physicals.
- Perform other urgent care procedures like ear lavage, wound care, and oxygen administration.
- Notify the provider promptly of unusual patient occurrences, including medication events.
- Promptly notify the Clinic Manager of patient or employee safety concerns.
- Follow guidelines and requirements for laboratory and clinical accreditation.
- Must be proficient in EMR/EHR.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- When working front office duties: inform patients of wait times, monitor patient flow, process discharges, prepare charges, collect payment, obtain signatures, and issue receipts.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Completed an APPROVED (accredited) Medical Assistant training program OR completed an UNAPPROVED (non-accredited) Medical Assistant training program AND hold a National Certification through one of the following: American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) - Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT) - Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), National Healthcareer Association (NHA) - Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA).
