Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP is hiring a Client Accounting Collections Coordinator to provide client accounting analysis and support to partners. This position, based in our New York office with a hybrid in-office/remote schedule, focuses on ensuring the timely collection of accounts receivable.
What You'll Do
- Assist with handling multiple complex A/R and client analysis projects.
- Monitor and manage assigned client accounts to ensure timely collection.
- Communicate clearly and respond to inquiries from clients, attorneys, and business services professionals.
- Manage accruals, A/R, and relevant e-billing issues for the Firm's financial clients.
- Coordinate Client Accounting efforts by ensuring timely follow-up on invoices and outstanding balances.
- Navigate various E-Billing systems and review invoice status.
- Analyze and propose actionable solutions to resolve issues with rejected or adjusted invoices.
- Evaluate A/R aged over 90 days, considering client-specific payment terms.
- Research and escalate aged A/R & Unbilled balances for Firm-wide clients.
- Prepare A/R write-offs as needed.
- Document meetings and discussions for action and follow-up.
- Communicate issues and escalate as necessary.
- Interact daily with the E-Billing & Billing teams to review and resolve invoice issues.
- Actively seek to enhance knowledge of all Client Accounting procedures.
- Maintain complete and up-to-date files for each partner and/or client.
- Manage Firm resources responsibly and comply with Firm policies and procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree.
- Minimum of three years of collections experience in a law firm or professional services environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (e.g., pivot tables, v-lookups).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage competing deadlines.
- Ability to handle sensitive client matters and maintain confidentiality with professionalism and discretion.
- Knowledge of relevant Firm computer software programs (e.g., Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), with the ability to learn new software.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work well in a demanding and fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work well independently and effectively within a team.
- Flexibility to adjust hours and work the hours necessary to meet business needs.
