CompScience is seeking a Claims Program Supervisor to play a critical role in building and managing our best-in-class workers' compensation claims program. In this role, you will oversee external claims management partners and drive superior outcomes for injured workers while ensuring cost-effectiveness.
What You'll Do
- Oversee and manage relationships with external workers' compensation claims administrators, including insurance partners and Third-Party Administrators (TPAs) across multiple states.
- Conduct regular audits of external claims management operations to ensure adherence to best practices and service level agreements.
- Monitor and analyze partner performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective action plans.
- Develop, implement, and refine best practices for workers' compensation claims management, focusing on efficient processes, proactive communication, and optimal claim outcomes.
- Ensure that both internal stakeholders and external partners consistently apply best practices.
- Serve as a primary point of communication for internal management, supervisors, and external claims examiners regarding strategies, performance, and complex claim escalations.
- Act as a dedicated advocate for both claims examiners and policyholders, fostering clear communication to resolve issues and ensure a transparent process.
- Proactively communicate with employers to promote the adoption of claims management best practices, such as immediate reporting of claims and effective return-to-work programs.
- Educate policyholders on strategies to manage claims effectively and reduce overall claims costs.
- Drive initiatives to achieve best-in-class claims management, focusing on positive outcomes for injured workers while minimizing costs.
- Analyze claims data to identify trends, insights, and opportunities for program enhancement.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a relevant field.
- 5-7+ years of experience in workers' compensation claims management, preferably in a multi-state or national environment.
- Proven experience in overseeing and managing Third-Party Administrators (TPAs) and/or insurance carrier claims departments.
- Ability to develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive claims management programs and initiatives.
- Thorough understanding of workers' compensation laws, regulations, and claims best practices, including strategies for timely claim reporting, medical management, and return-to-work programs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in claims auditing and performance analysis.
- Proficiency with claims management systems and data analysis tools.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, enabling effective engagement and influence with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven ability to advocate effectively for both policyholders and claims examiners.
- Self-starter with the capacity to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively within a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment.
