CIMA+, an employee-owned firm, is looking for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Earth and Environment team. You’ll tackle challenging projects in a collaborative environment, developing your technical and project management expertise across a range of infrastructure and dam projects.
What You'll Do
- Lead, support, and oversee geotechnical studies from planning through reporting, ensuring technical excellence.
- Plan and design projects by leading site investigations, including exploratory drilling, sampling, testing, and data analysis.
- Analyze field, laboratory, and geological data to assess soil and rock behavior, stability, and load-bearing capacity.
- Develop engineering recommendations and prepare technical reports for foundation design, slope stability, and excavation.
- Design geotechnical solutions and prepare technical drawings for earthworks, retaining structures, and slope stabilization.
- Provide technical input to multidisciplinary teams on infrastructure projects like tunnels, highways, bridges, and dams.
- Oversee project execution to ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective delivery, collaborating with construction teams.
- Conduct dam safety inspections, condition assessments, and contribute to upgrade projects.
- Identify, assess, and manage risks associated with geotechnical projects and natural hazards.
- Establish and implement quality control procedures for geotechnical analyses and reporting.
- Prepare proposal and bid documents in response to requests for proposals.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through technical support and project updates.
- Mentor, train, and supervise junior and intermediate engineers.
- Communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to meet project objectives.
What We're Looking For
- A degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of geotechnical engineering experience, with a proven record of managing complex studies.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in British Columbia, or eligibility for registration with the EGBC within 12 months.
- Proficiency with geotechnical software for slope stability, settlement, seepage, and finite element analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects independently while collaborating in multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong leadership, mentorship, and client relationship skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Solid understanding of soil mechanics, foundation design, and construction techniques.
Nice to Have
- Post-graduate degree is considered an asset.
- Experience working on Geohazards related projects.

- Salary range: $108,000 to $150,000.
