Banner Health Corporate is hiring a Charge Description Master Consultant

The Charge Description Master Consultant plays a key role in upholding billing accuracy and regulatory compliance across a large integrated healthcare system. In this position, you will manage updates to patient charge data, including additions, revisions, and deletions, ensuring alignment with federal, state, and managed care requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation and maintenance of charge description master changes across multiple facilities
  • Review and validate pricing formulas and conduct regular audits to verify completeness and accuracy
  • Support the development of charge structures for new departments or service lines
  • Monitor annual updates to CPT-4, HCPCS, and UB04 codes and coordinate necessary system changes
  • Deliver training and guidance to staff on proper charging practices and compliance standards
  • Collaborate with finance, compliance, and managed care teams to support rate filings and contract negotiations
  • Prepare and maintain policies based on regulatory requirements and audit findings
  • Interface with external agencies, auditors, and government payors as a subject matter expert

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field is required, along with four years of progressive experience in healthcare billing, reimbursement, or medical coding. Candidates must demonstrate strong knowledge of coding systems (CPT-4, HCPCS, UB04), payer compliance rules, and charge master applications. Excellent organizational and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to handle sensitive data with discretion.

Preferred qualifications include clinical background (RN/LPN), formal coding certification, or advanced training in healthcare revenue cycle management. Experience with system-wide charge master platforms is highly valued.

Work Environment

This role offers full remote work eligibility for candidates in approved states, operating on a standard Monday–Friday schedule within defined daily hours.
