Offers guidance on legal, regulatory, compliance, patient care, and litigation issues. Creates and delivers reports, visual aids, presentations, and supplementary materials as instructed. Manages delicate patient, institutional, proprietary, and compliance information with professionalism and ethical standards. Communicates directly with diverse client contacts. St. Jude Children's Research Hospital initiated its ambitious St. Jude Global program in 2018 through the Department of Pediatric Medicine. Since then, St. Jude Global has expanded to over 23 distinct programs, collaborating with more than 350 institutions across 78 countries. The mission of St. Jude Global is to enhance survival rates for children with catastrophic diseases worldwide by sharing knowledge, technology, and organizational capabilities. St. Jude seeks an Associate Counsel for the Global Pediatric Medicine Department. The selected candidate will provide legal guidance on multinational agreements, collaborations, and international legal matters. Working across institutional departments, the successful applicant will be integrated with Global Pediatric Medicine, reporting formally to the Chief Legal Officer through the Chief Counsel for the Department of Global Pediatric Medicine. Remote work is under consideration. Responsibilities: In a dynamic environment, the ideal candidate will: - Independently draft, review, modify, analyze, and negotiate intricate agreements, including those with international entities and vendors. - Support policy and procedure development through drafting, reviewing, and analyzing. - Contribute to improving legal service quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness by developing document templates and standardizing contracts. - Conduct independent research on international laws and regulations to support departmental expansion and strategic decision-making. - Evaluate disputed matters, determine organizational legal positioning, and respond to counterparties as appropriate. - Engage with St. Jude departments, consultants, external counsel, or opposing counsel as necessary. - Manage sensitive institutional, proprietary, and compliance matters with professionalism and ethical conduct. Requirements: - Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school. - Minimum of five years legal experience. - Preference for experience drafting or negotiating agreements with international counterparties. - Tennessee law practice license required within nine months of hiring, with in-house counsel registration as an alternative within six months. - Strong cultural sensitivity. Preferred Qualifications: - Experience in academic medical centers, hospitals, research institutes, or life sciences organizations. - Language fluency, particularly in Spanish, Arabic, or Mandarin. Compensation In compliance with pay transparency laws, St. Jude provides a compensation range estimate. The salary range for Associate Counsel is $125,840 - $238,160 annually, with specific offers based on individual qualifications, experience, certifications, and organizational needs.
