Purdue University is looking for an Assistant Director - Sport Programs to join our community known for its imagination, ingenuity, and innovation. In this role, you will report to and work collaboratively with the Senior Assistant Director to develop, oversee, and maintain comprehensive Club Sports and Intramural sports programs.
What You'll Do
- Develop and oversee Club Sports and Intramural sports programs, maintaining program offerings and staff operations.
- Perform fiscal management for the programs.
- Develop staff and conduct program outreach.
- Identify and implement program modifications to serve the community more completely.
- Independently manage all aspects of comprehensive sports programming.
- Establish vision and strategies that will contribute to the development of a quality and innovative program.
- Develop students' leadership, communication, conflict resolution, organizational, and teamwork skills.
- Establish long and short-term goals consistent with the mission of the university and the division.
- Build, develop, and cultivate relationships across campus with a variety of constituents.
- Supervise, manage, and develop student staff.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in areas such as recreation, sport management, or related fields.
- Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in sport rules design/implementation, programming, officiating experience, training officials and staff supervision.
- Ability to independently manage all aspects of comprehensive sports programming and establish vision and strategies for a quality, innovative program.
- Ability to develop students' leadership, communication, conflict resolution, organizational, and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of risk management issues in collegiate club sports and recreation.
- Ability to establish long and short-term goals consistent with the mission of the university and the division.
- Ability to build, develop, and cultivate relationships across campus with a variety of constituents.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise, manage, and develop student staff.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse constituents.
- Strong communication (written/oral) as well as interpersonal skills.
- Proficient with computer software (word processing, spreadsheet, electronic communication, etc.).
