The Architecture Director - Data Centres at AECOM will lead multi-disciplinary architectural and engineering projects at a Technical Director level within the data centre sector, focusing on hyperscale and colocation projects across the UK, Ireland, and Europe. The role involves leading bids, managing client relationships, ensuring project profitability, and maintaining design quality under tight deadlines.
What You'll Do
- Lead Designer/Consultant on a portfolio of projects
- Co-ordinating the discipline leads across projects for Architecture and Engineering deliverables
- Leading bids commercially and technically for multi-disciplinary opportunities with key clients
- Ensuring all internal governance is followed both at bid stage and throughout the delivery of projects
- Identifying and securing targeted projects / revenue
- Presenting to clients and prospective clients
- Supporting other Directors in this sector with internal management and strategy
- General administrative and management duties appropriate to data centre team
What We're Looking For
- Experienced Architect/Architecture Technologist/Lead Consultant with strong technical background in the data centre (DC) sector
- Proven capability in design management, digital technologies, and design workflow
- Ability to lead multi-disciplinary architectural and engineering projects at a Technical Director level
- Experience in establishing, building, and maintaining strong client relationships
- Experience in successful project delivery and Client Account Manager (CAM) approach
- Ability to assist sector lead in identifying future pipeline and securing opportunities to meet allocated targets
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and troubleshoot issues proactively
- Experience in bidding and pricing of new opportunities, specifically CSA activities
- Ability to ensure opportunities deliver to ‘as sold’ fees and margins
- Experience in internal commercial and contractual governance for key client projects
- Ability to ensure compliance to internal processes and manage risk to AECOM
- Proven ability to ensure profitable project delivery
- Strong technical design content with an Architectural and Lead Designer bias
- Ability to oversee design activities and production of design information
- Ability to maintain high quality standards across projects
- Ability to manage delivery to demanding timelines and immovable deadlines
- Excellent communication skills for working with multi-disciplinary design teams, clients, and contractors in UK and Europe
