The YMCA of Southwest Florida is looking for an Aquatic Aerobics Instructor to deliver high-quality group exercise classes. Reporting to the Executive/Wellness/Program Director, you will be responsible for providing a safe, motivating, and physically appropriate fitness experience for all participants.
What You'll Do
- Act professionally and adhere to dress code requirements.
- Arrive promptly for scheduled shifts, ensuring adequate time for facility preparation.
- Follow the established format and description for each class type.
- Start and finish classes on time, including set-up and breakdown.
- Ensure all classes are safe and comply with industry standards and guidelines.
- Provide your own music suitable for a family-friendly environment.
- Build rapport with class participants, learning names, health concerns, and physical limitations.
- Maintain constant supervision of participants during class.
- Report all maintenance concerns to the Executive/Wellness/Program Director immediately.
- Ensure participants wear appropriate footwear.
- Return all equipment to its proper place following your shift.
- Find your own substitutes for scheduled shifts and notify your supervisor promptly.
- Attend regularly scheduled, mandatory staff meetings.
- Use the time clock system and submit timesheet corrections to your supervisor in a timely manner.
- Uphold all staff safety requirements, including cleaning protocols.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Successful completion of a State of Florida Criminal History Background Check and the Association's background screening.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Agreement to refrain from diagnosing injuries, offering medical advice, or endorsing commercial health products.
- A self-starter with high energy and a positive attitude.
- Adherence to a drug-free, alcohol-free, and smoke-free workplace policy.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications.
- A current, appropriate fitness certification.
- Annual completion of YMCA Blood Borne Pathogens training.
- Annual completion of YMCA Child Sexual Abuse Prevention training.
- One year or more of experience in the fitness field.
- Completion of all Staff Safety Requirements and Cleaning Protocols.
- Willingness to complete additional training classes as recommended by your Supervisor.
Team & Environment
You will report directly to the Executive/Wellness/Program Director. We encourage participation in YMCA-sponsored special events and teamwork on assignments for the Annual Partner with Youth campaign.
Work Mode
This is an onsite position.
