Inventive Food Technology is offering a cooperative education position within the Application Development team for our Grain Processing Business. Based at our Applied Innovation Center in Cedar Rapids, IA, you will work on independent projects and provide product development support focused on enzymes and yeast for biofuels and food ingredients.

What You'll Do

Manage independent projects and support ongoing product development and support efforts.
Design, execute, and interpret experiments to evaluate and optimize enzyme and yeast performance at lab- and/or pilot-scales.
Perform hands-on laboratory work to execute, analyze, report, and present experimental plans and results as well as standard assays.

What We're Looking For

Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Bioprocess Engineering, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, or a related field.
Experience with biochemical assays and analytical techniques including HPLC.
Understanding of enzyme kinetics and/or fermentation fundamentals.
Desire to work in a multidisciplinary team and capability to work independently.
Self-starter with good organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.

Nice to Have

Academic research or industrial internship/co-op experience.
3.0 GPA or Higher.
Outstanding problem-solving, analytical and interpersonal skills.
Strong work ethic and the ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams to deliver concrete project deliverables in a timely manner.
